What does landscaping cost in Mallorca?

What does landscaping cost in Mallorca?

For a medium Mallorca garden of roughly 200 to 500 m² at a standard finish, planting with irrigation typically runs €7,800 to €11,200, terraces and dry stone €11,500 to €16,500, a lighting scheme €2,000 to €2,800 and maintenance €2,500 to €3,500 a year. The design plan that sits in front of all of it is €1,000 to €1,400. Very few gardens need every line at once.

Key takeaways

  • Landscaping is priced job by job, not as one figure per square metre.
  • Garden size is the biggest lever: a large plot runs about 1.7 times a medium one, an extra large plot about 2.5 times.
  • Finish level is the second: a premium specification adds about a third, a bespoke one about four fifths.
  • Access, slope and water supply move a Mallorcan quote further than the plant list does.

What does each part of the job cost?

These are the market ranges for a medium garden at a standard finish. They are the same figures the cost guide calculator uses, and they are typical Mallorca ranges rather than a quote from anybody.

Part of the jobMedium garden, standard finish
Garden design plan€1,000 to €1,400
Planting and irrigation€7,800 to €11,200
Lawn or meadow€2,600 to €3,800
Terraces and dry stone€11,500 to €16,500
Garden lighting€2,000 to €2,800
Maintenance, per year€2,500 to €3,500

Each of those lines has its own guide, with the ranges by size and what moves them: garden design, irrigation, maintenance, renovation and poolside work.

How much does garden size change it?

Size scales almost everything except the design fee, which scales a little less. Taking planting and irrigation as the example, the same specification runs like this across the four size bands.

Garden sizePlanting and irrigationTerraces and dry stone
Small, up to about 200 m²€4,700 to €6,700€6,900 to €9,900
Medium, about 200 to 500 m²€7,800 to €11,200€11,500 to €16,500
Large, about 500 to 1,000 m²€13,200 to €19,100€19,500 to €28,100
Extra large, over 1,000 m²€19,500 to €28,000€28,700 to €41,300

What does finish level mean in a quote?

Standard means sound materials, sensible plant sizes and a straightforward build. Premium means better stone, larger specimens and more detail, and it adds roughly a third. Bespoke means custom stonework, mature trees and a design that has been drawn rather than assembled, and it adds roughly four fifths. On the planting line for a medium garden that is €10,500 to €15,100 at premium and €14,000 to €20,200 at bespoke.

What pushes a Mallorca quote up?

  • Access. A plot a lorry cannot reach means everything arrives by dumper or by hand, and it is usually the single largest variable on this island.
  • Slope. Every level on a terraced plot needs a structure to hold it before anything is planted.
  • Water. Mains, well or cistern decides what the irrigation has to do and what the planting is allowed to be.
  • Disposal. Green waste and spoil have to leave the site and go somewhere licensed, and a quote that omits it is not cheaper.
  • Season. Planting wants autumn and winter here, so a job pushed into summer costs more in water and in risk.

What is not in these numbers?

Swimming pools, building work and anything needing an architect sit outside garden pricing entirely. Licences and municipal fees vary by town hall. And the ranges assume the ground is workable: on a new build plot, breaking up compaction and importing topsoil comes before any of the lines above. That is covered in the new build checklist.

How the matching works

We do not do landscaping and we cannot price your garden. What we can do is pass one description to vetted landscaping companies on Mallorca that cover your area and take on that kind of work. They quote you directly and the contract is between you and whichever one you choose. Request free quotes and you will have several numbers for the same brief.

How much does landscaping a garden cost in Mallorca?

For a medium garden of 200 to 500 m² at a standard finish, planting with irrigation runs €7,800 to €11,200 and terraces with dry stone €11,500 to €16,500. Very few gardens need every line at once.

Is landscaping priced per square metre?

Rarely, and a per metre figure hides the things that actually move the price here. Access, slope and water supply differ so much between plots that companies price the job rather than the area.

What does a maintenance contract cost?

About €2,500 to €3,500 a year for a medium garden, €1,500 to €2,100 for a small one and €4,200 to €6,000 for a large one. The visit frequency matters more than the hourly rate.

Can I get several quotes for the same job?

Yes. One description goes to several vetted companies covering your area, each quotes you directly, and there is no obligation to accept any of them.

Where to start

Measure the garden roughly, take photographs including the access, and decide which of the lines above you actually need. That is enough for comparable numbers. Send the job through, or open the cost guide and put your own size and finish into the calculator first.
