Garden under construction on Mallorca: string lines, a half built retaining wall with drainage, and pallets of stone paving

Garden Construction in Mallorca

Construction is the stage where a drawing becomes ground, stone and pipework. Tell us what is being built and we pass it to landscaping contractors on Mallorca who take on work at that scale.

The order things have to happen in

A garden build goes wrong more often in its sequence than in its craftsmanship. Irrigation lines and lighting cable have to be in the ground before a terrace is laid over them, drainage has to be resolved before topsoil arrives, and heavy machinery needs an access route that still exists once the walls are up.

On Mallorcan plots access is usually the sharp question. Narrow village lanes, steep hillside drives and a finished pool surround decide whether material arrives by lorry, by dumper or by hand, and that single fact moves a price more than the choice of stone does.

Any contractor pricing your job will want to know this early. The clearer you are about access, levels and what is already buried in the ground, the closer the quotes will land to the final invoice. On an architect led project or a development the same points apply against a drawing set rather than a garden, which is covered under developers and architects.

What a construction request usually covers

  • Site clearance and setting out from the plan
  • Excavation, levels and spoil removal
  • Drainage runs and soakaways
  • Irrigation and lighting ducting laid first
  • Retaining structures and dry stone work
  • Terraces, paving, steps and edging
  • Topsoil, ground preparation and planting beds
  • Making good and removing site waste

How your request reaches a company

Mallorca Landscapers is a comparison service. A request for a garden build goes to the landscaping companies on our list; they quote the work and carry it out, and any agreement is between you and the company you pick.

  1. 01

    Describe the job

Tell us the property, roughly what you want and where it is. Photographs and a rough plan help, though neither is required.

  2. 02

    We match it

The request goes to companies that work in your area and take on this kind of job at this size.

  3. 03

    They quote you

Each company contacts you directly with its own price, timing and approach. We do not set any of it.

  4. 04

    You compare and choose

Put the quotes side by side and take the one you want, or none of them. Using the site costs you nothing.

Can one company do both design and build?

Many do, and it removes the argument about whose fault a problem is. Others prefer to build to somebody else plan. Ask each company which it is offering, because the two are priced differently.

Do I need a licence to build in my garden?

It depends on the town hall and on what is being built. Walls, pools and anything structural usually need paperwork, and work in a protected zone needs more. The company quoting should tell you what applies to your plot.

What slows a garden build down most often?

Access, and material lead times. A plot reached only through a neighbour lane or through the house itself changes both the method and the cost.
