Rooftop and Terrace Gardens in Mallorca
A roof terrace is the most exposed garden anyone owns, and in Palma it is often the only one. Describe the space and we pass the request to companies that plant terraces and roofs on Mallorca.

Weight, wind and waterproofing come before plants
Wet soil is heavy, and a row of large planters along a parapet is a structural load rather than a decorating choice. On an old Palma building that question has to be answered by someone qualified before anything is bought.
Wind is the second constraint and it is worse than at ground level. Anything above the parapet is in clean fast air that dries pots in hours and shreds soft leaves, which is why the roof gardens that work here are built around low tough planting with shelter designed in.
Waterproofing is the third. A roof terrace is a roof, and planting on top of it means drainage layers, root protection and outlets that stay reachable. Getting this wrong shows up inside the building rather than in the garden.
What a roof terrace request usually covers
- Load and structural advice before planting
- Waterproofing, root barrier and drainage layers
- Lightweight substrates instead of garden soil
- Planters sized and fixed for wind
- Wind shelter and screening
- Species chosen for heat, glare and salt
- Automatic irrigation, since pots dry fast
- Lighting and power on the terrace
- Access and craning of materials
How your request reaches a company
Mallorca Landscapers is a comparison service. A request for a roof terrace garden goes to the landscaping companies on our list; they quote the work and carry it out, and any agreement is between you and the company you pick.

Describe the job
Tell us the property, roughly what you want and where it is. Photographs and a rough plan help, though neither is required.

The request goes to companies that work in your area and take on this kind of job at this size.

They quote you
Each company contacts you directly with its own price, timing and approach. We do not set any of it.

Can any roof take a garden?
No. Load capacity has to be confirmed for the building, and in an apartment the community usually has a say as well. Any company quoting should ask about both before proposing anything heavy.
What survives on an exposed roof here?
Tough low planting with small or waxy leaves, grasses and succulents, kept in shelter where possible. Anything tall and soft leaved will be damaged by wind within a season.
Do roof planters need irrigation?
In practice yes. Containers in full sun and wind can dry within a day in summer, and hand watering fails the moment nobody is there.
